Two measles cases linked to Battle Ground school exposure

Clark County Public Health is investigating two confirmed measles cases involving unvaccinated children after a person with measles was at a Battle Ground school.

The person was at River HomeLink, located at 610A SW Eaton Blvd., Battle Ground, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 17 while contagious, according to a Clark County news release.

Public Health is working with Battle Ground Public Schools to identify students and staff who are not protected against measles. Those individuals will be excluded from school, child care and other public settings for 21 days, according to the news release.

People who were at the school and are not vaccinated against measles or have not previously had the disease are at risk of becoming sick. Anyone who was exposed and develops symptoms is advised to call their health care provider before visiting a medical office to reduce exposure risks.

As of Sept. 23, Clark County had 21 measles cases reported this year. Nineteen of the 21 people were unvaccinated, while vaccination status was unknown for two people.
