Authorities say two Kelso men are dead after their car flipped Sunday into a slough along Industrial Way, near Northwest Alloys — the former Millennium Bulk terminal — in Longview.

John D. Rodriguez, 58, and his passenger Anthony S. Evans, 28, died at the scene, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo.

The pair were headed west at about 4:51 p.m., missing a curve in the road near Memorial Park Drive, with their white 2008 Chevy Malibu landing on its top in the nearby slough, the memo states.

The memo lists the cause of the accident as speeding, but the involvement of drugs or alcohol is unknown.

The Malibu was totaled, and only Evans was wearing a seat belt.
