Students from Union Ridge Elementary in Ridgefield recently visited the Washington state Capitol, where they were welcomed by state Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia, during an educational tour.
Students and faculty toured the Capitol campus, visited the legislative chambers and learned about Washington’s history. Students also took part in a Q&A session with Abbarno, where he discussed his role as a legislator, according to a news release from the Washington state House Republicans.
“This was such a fantastic visit! The students from Union Ridge Elementary were full of curiosity and great questions,” Abbarno said in the news release. “It is always inspiring to see young minds so engaged in how our government works. These kids are the future leaders of our communities, and I hope their time at the Capitol encouraged them to stay involved in civic life.”
