The Vancouver Clinic has opened the doors to a new facility at its Salmon Creek campus, which features an urgent care and specialty department suites.

The new facility opened at 2529 NE 139th St., Vancouver on Monday, Nov. 7. The three-story, 75,500-square-foot building features a ground-floor urgent care and a number of suites for departments, alongside an outpatient surgery center, stated a release from the Vancouver Clinic.

Vancouver Clinic Chief Executive Officer Mark Mantei said the provider decided to move forward on the facility as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning.

“While we didn’t know what the future would hold, we were certain that our community would continue to grow and that we needed a strong health care system that took advantage of technological advances in surgery, robotics, and emergency medicine,” Mantei stated in the release.

The extended-hours urgent care will be open until 11 p.m. on weekdays and until 7 p.m. on the weekends. The Vancouver Clinic’s other locations are open until 7 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends, the release stated. All locations open at 7 a.m.

The urgent care features eight exam rooms, two triage rooms, and five observation rooms where staff can monitor patients who receive treatments, the release stated. The added space allows for three clinicians to be available on most days.

A ground floor physical therapy room features sliders that open to the outside, allowing therapists to incorporate outdoor exercises. They can also keep the doors open on days with good weather, the release stated. Other specialty departments at the new facility include orthopedics, pain management, physical therapy, podiatry, foot and ankle surgery as well as sports medicine.

The facility will also feature Vancouver Clinic’s first pain management procedure suite, the release stated. Instead of relying on the outpatient ambulatory surgery center, patients can receive most of their pain management injections and treatments at the suite.

The addition and features of the new facility are intended to reduce wait times and in some instances feature lower costs, according to the release.

The top floor of “Salmon Creek 2,” as Vancouver Clinic calls it, will feature an ambulatory surgery center of its own in early 2023, the release stated. The center will include six operating rooms and 18 private pre- and post-procedure rooms.

“Expanding the community’s number of ASC beds allows patients to comfortably recover at home and frees up hospital space for individuals who need it,” the release stated. “Many procedures, including low-risk joint replacements, can be performed in the ASC instead of a hospital.”

The center will feature a light-based disinfection service and two suites with robotically-assisted surgery devices.

Orthopedic Surgeon Casey Cornelius said he is “thrilled” with what the new center has in store.

“Employing the latest tools and technology helps us offer patients the best possible care and an easier recovery,” Cornelius stated in the release.

Vancouver Clinic has opened six new clinics in the past three years, the release stated. Between 2010 and 2020, the clinic’s region gained nearly 80,000 residents, with Clark County ranking as the fastest-growing county in Washington.

“Our community is experiencing a growing need for medical services,” Vancouver Clinic Board of Directors Chair Keren Rosenblum stated in the release.

Rosenblum said the opening of the new Salmon Creek Facility “represents our commitment to our families, friends and neighbors to provide the care that keeps people healthy.”
