The Washington state Republican Party (WAGOP) has recently announced that Scott Presler, the founder of Early Vote Action, a grassroots movement to register Republicans, will travel to Washington state to promote and support Initiative Measure No. IL 26-126, a citizen-led effort that would require voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote.

Reset Church in Marysville will kick off a string of signing events at 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, with more events to follow during the week in Grays Harbor, Benton County, Yakima, Spokane and King County, a news release from WAGOP stated.

“Scott Presler inspires people to participate, but also to improve our election systems,” WAGOP Chairman Jim Walsh said. “That’s what the Washington Voter ID Initiative does. And that’s what Presler is doing by supporting this initiative.”

“Scott Presler’s visit brings the energy we need to push the Voter ID Initiative across the finish line,” WAGOP Political Director Matt Brown said. “We are fixing our election system, restoring trust in every ballot, and moving full throttle. All gas, no brakes. We will get this done.”

The goal is to collect 350,000 signatures by Dec. 31, according to the release.
