Washington Imagination Library seeks support for Dolly Parton’s legacy

Imagination Library of Washington is encouraging residents and state lawmakers to support the continuation of Dolly Parton’s book-gifting program following the singer’s death.

The program mails free, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled Washington children from birth to age 5. Local partners, donors, foundations and businesses help fund the program, according to a press release from Imagination Library of Washington.

“The best way we can honor Dolly is to ensure the work she started continues,” Brooke Fisher-Clark, executive director of Imagination Library of Washington, said in the release. “Her legacy will live on in every child who discovers a favorite story and every family that reads together.”

The organization is also calling on the Washington Legislature to restore the 50% state match for the program, saying the funding is important to its stability and ability to reach more children.

Washington families can register eligible children for the program at imaginationlibrary.com. To learn more about partnering with the Washington program or make a donation, visit imaginationlibrarywashington.org.
