Washington State Parks offers lifetime Disabled Veteran Pass program

As a gesture of gratitude, Washington State Parks is offering free day-use access to all disabled veterans in the state. In addition, holders of the Lifetime Disabled Veteran Pass will be entitled to free camping, moorage and boat launches, along with an exemption from reservation fees. These benefits aim to make it easier for disabled veterans to explore the natural beauty of Washington’s state parks and enjoy recreational activities.

“Our parks are meant to be enjoyed by all, and we want to ensure that disabled veterans have the opportunity to experience the tranquility and adventure that our parks offer,” said the spokesperson for the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. “The Lifetime Disabled Veteran Pass is a small token of our appreciation for the immense sacrifices made by these brave individuals.”

It is essential to note, however, that Washington State Parks operates primarily on user fees, relying on them to keep the parks open and maintained. Therefore, pass holders must use their reservations responsibly. State Parks urges pass holders to make reservations they genuinely intend to use and, if necessary, to cancel them as early as possible to avoid unnecessary costs.

For more information or assistance about the Lifetime Disabled Veteran Pass program, people can contact the Washington State Parks Information Center at 360-902-8844 or emailing Passes@parks.wa.gov.

The Lifetime Disabled Veteran Pass is exclusively offered to Washington state veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 30 percent or higher. This pass aims to acknowledge the courage and resilience exhibited by disabled veterans while providing them with enhanced access to the state parks’ recreational opportunities.

The disability pass does not take the place of a Discover Pass. It will not be accepted on lands managed by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife or the Department of Natural Resources.
