Yacolt artist adds comedic flare to electronic music

Yacolt may not seem like a place where an artist produces electronic music, but Devin Millar has found a way.

Millar uses a self-proclaimed “girl next door” and “farmer’s daughter” theme for his appearance and cartoon-style music videos he creates for himself.

Outside of Millar’s music, he enjoys helping with charity events and being involved in the community.

Millar has been heavily inspired by artists like Vengaboys and Aqua. He said his music is influenced by the Eurodance genre, and musicians from the 1990s and early 2000s, all the way to current day pop and EDM music.

“I started playing piano when I was 5 and then my uncle had stayed with my family for about like five years and he showed me how to use Echo Studio,” Millar said about his start with electronic music.

Millar said some people judge him, but he noted he doesn’t care. He tries to be known for staying true to one’s self and encourages others to not worry about what other people think. At 22 years old, Millar’s music has been featured online. He stated in an email that many praise his promotion of equality.

“I love uniting people,” Millar said. “When it comes to what I’m doing, I just want people to know that it’s just totally normal to do what I’m doing.”

In today’s world, he strives to share a message of acceptance.

“We are all just people living normal lives,” Millar said.

In the near future, Millar plans to hold concerts at clubs in the area and even hinted at the possibility of a music tour with other artists.
