Yacolt to host spring cleanup, hazardous waste collection

The Town of Yacolt will host a community cleanup event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until dumpsters are full, on Saturday, April 25, at the Railroad Gravel parking lot at the intersection of Yacolt Road and Railroad Avenue.

Fees are $25 for a small car load, $35 for a pickup load and $45 for a trailer load. Participants must unload their own materials. Vouchers can be purchased at Town Hall through April 24 during business hours, or beginning at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. Day-of payments must be made by cash or check.

Accepted items include yard debris, bulky household items, scrap metal and clean lumber cut into sections 4 feet or shorter. Tires will be accepted but must be removed from rims. Household garbage, hazardous waste, appliances containing refrigerants and other restricted materials will not be accepted, according to a news release by the Town of Yacolt.

A separate household hazardous waste collection will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day at Yacolt Primary School, 406 W. Yacolt Road. Items such as paint, motor oil, pesticides, fluorescent tubes and cleaners will be accepted, while materials such as ammunition, asbestos and certain building materials will not be accepted.
