On Saturday, Jan. 20, the La Center Wildcats 1A girls basketball team won a 47-43 thriller in overtime over the 4A Battleground Tigers.
“The entire game was very close, and there were many lead changes, especially when the game was coming down to the wire in regulation and when in overtime,” assistant coach Andrew Beckley said in an email.
With 17 seconds left in regulation, the Tigers had the ball and a one-point lead. As a Tiger was inbounding the ball, the Wildcat defense went into action and forced a turnover on the Wildcats played great defense and were able to force a turnover on the inbounds pass, Beckley said.
