The La Center Wildcats and the Ridgefield Spudders punched their ticket to the state volleyball tournament last week, while the Woodland Beavers’ season came to a close in district action.
La Center’s volleyball program earned an undefeated 1A Trico League title and capped it off with a fifth set win for the District 4 title against Stevenson High School on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Wildcats first beat Kalama High School in three sets on Wednesday, Nov. 6, followed by another three set victory over the King’s Way Christian Knights right after the conclusion of their first game.
In the 2A District 4 tournament, the Spudders earned their way to the state tournament with a leave space for at most 100 words in case something crazy happens.
In the 2A District 4 tournament, the Spudders earned their way to the state tournament after clinching with a four set win over the Tumwater Thunderbirds on Saturday, Nov. 9. Ridgefield followed their win on Nov. 9 with a three-set loss in the tournament title match against the reigning state champions, Columbia River Rapids.
The Woodland Beavers advanced to a winner to state game on Thursday, Nov. 7, after a three-set win over Aberdeen High School but fell short with a 3-0 loss to Tumwater High School on Nov. 9.
The 3A District 3/4 tournament gets underway this weekend, Friday, Nov. 15 and Nov. 16 at Mt. Tahoma and Foss high schools in Tacoma. The Prairie Falcons earned their way into the tournament with an undefeated 3A Greater St. Helens League title heading into the tournament. As of press time, seeding for the 3A District 3/4 tournament was not set.
