The North Clark Historical Museum and Mt. Valley Grange #79 will co-host the 36th annual community celebration honoring veterans on Veterans Day.

The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Mt. Valley Grange No. 79, located at 40107 NE 221st Ave., in Amboy. There will be a pie and ice cream social event starting at 2 p.m. in the basement of the Mt. Valley Grange. The program will begin at 3 p.m.

The program speaker will be Ron Brandon, United States Marine Corps. During the event, Pomeroy Living History Farm will be recognized for its contributions to the community.

Also during the program, Danae Castle will sing a medley of patriotic songs, and the Amboy Middle School Band will provide further music. The American Legion Tum Tum Post No. 168 will present the flag and lead the flag salute.

All veterans attending will receive a free raffle ticket for a special patriotic quilt made and donated by the Chelatchie Quilters. The quilt is lap-sized and may only be won by a veteran. Veterans will also receive a gift box of items donated by The Wild Bean and Nick’s Bar and Grill.

The winning ticket for the raffle quilt, “Blue Starlight,” a fundraiser for North Clark Historical Museum, will be drawn during the event as well. Proceeds from the raffle supplement the capital improvement fund, a release stated. Museum board members will provide items for the door prize raffle. Proceeds from the door prize raffle supplement the general fund, the release states.

Tickets for the raffles will be available in the basement and in the main hall for both drawings between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. A pie auction will conclude the event, and proceeds will go to Mt. Valley Grange No. 79.

The cost for the event will be $4 for adults, children 12 and under $2. Proceeds will go to Mt. Valley Grange #79 for operating expenses.
