Area high schools set to host plant sales in North Clark County

Plant lovers will have the chance to frequent a variety of plant sales at the end of April and during the first few weeks of May at area high schools.

Starting off at Battle Ground Public Schools’ CASEE center in Brush Prairie, NatureScaping will host its bare root trees, shrubs and perennial plant sale on Saturday, April 29.

The sale is open to NatureScaping members from 9 a.m. to noon and will then open to others who register for the event from noon to 4 p.m. People can register for the event online at  tinyurl.com/theplantsale2023.

Bare root trees will be available for $15, bare root shrubs will be for sale for $7, and potted perennials will start at $1.

New to this year’s NatureScaping sale, Brush Prairie’s Garden Delights Herb Farm will be in attendance to sell a variety of herb plants, herb seeds and garden vegetable starts.

The Clark County Beekeepers Association will also conduct a swap meet in the east parking lot of CASEE and will be available to answer questions about beekeeping. The association will have beekeeping equipment, beeswax candles, honey, books and pollinator seeds available.

On Sunday, April 30, there will be a public sale with no registration required from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CASEE center.

The sale, which will feature northwest native trees and shrubs, will be held in conjunction with NatureScaping of Southwest Washington’s sale, stated a release from Battle Ground Public Schools. Prices for the trees and shrubs range from $5 to $15 depending on the size. Checks and credit or debit cards will be accepted. 

The CASEE center is located at 11104 NE 149th St. in Brush Prairie.

Then from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 5 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, horticulture students from Woodland High School will hold their 33rd annual FFA plant sale at the school’s greenhouses.

“This year’s plant sale features a wide variety of vegetables, geraniums, bedding plants, succulents, hanging baskets, and much more — just in time for Mother’s Day,” stated a release from Woodland Public Schools.

The Woodland High School greenhouses are located at 1500 Dike Access Road in Woodland. Payment options include cash and checks. No credit or debit cards will be accepted. 

On Saturday, May 6, the agriculture department at Battle Ground High School will hold its annual sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The sale will feature a large selection of hanging baskets in various sizes. It will also include zonal geraniums, primrose, succulents, vegetable starts, herbs, strawberries, pollinator packs, flowering patio pots and houseplants, according to Battle Ground Public Schools.

The greenhouses at Battle Ground High School are located at 300 W. Main St. in Battle Ground. Payment options include cash, check and credit or debit cards.

Then later in May, Prairie High School will host its plant sale.

It will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12; from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13; and from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16.

“The Prairie greenhouse has been busy growing hanging baskets, table planters, geraniums, fuchsias, succulents, perennial plants, ornamental grasses, annual bedding plants and vegetables,” stated a release from the district. “New this year, they will have a selection of orchids, bird of paradise, monstera and cannas available.”

The Prairie High School greenhouse is located in the southwest corner of the campus at 11311 NE 119th St. in Vancouver. Signs will be placed out to help direct traffic.
