Posted

A pair of North Clark County teens recently completed their requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout.

Andrew Olsen is a member of Scout Troop 394 from Woodland, which is in the Cascade Pacific council, Chinook District. He is the son of Dave and Teresa Olsen and an 18-year-old senior at Woodland High School. Andrew has been in scout since the first grade.

Olsen’s Eagle Scout project was to acquire donations (received from PDM Steel, Parr Lumber, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Portland Plastics) to build three benches at Horseshoe Lake Park in Woodland. He had help from other scout members and friends building the benches. The benches were a much needed addition to Horseshoe Lake Park’s east end and fulfilled a goal of the Port of Woodland staff, which was said to be pleased to have Olsen install the benches for his Eagle project.

Olsen is very active in the Order of the Arrow as well. After high school, he wants to join the military and be an engineer. A Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held for Olsen Sat., Nov. 3 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Woodland.

Marshall Phillips of Boy Scout Crew 571 re-upholstered 80 stadium seats for CAM High School in Battle Ground as his Eagle Scout project. The 18-year-old Phillips is the son of Chris and Marta Phillips. and is a senior at CAM Academy High School. Phillips spent 127 hours on the project. He is a member of the Fort Vancouver District.
