Local agencies to host biochar and woodland management workshop

Learn to manage small woodland acreage and make biochar from wood at an upcoming workshop from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at 21312 NW 17th Court, Ridgefield.

Local biochar and woodland steward, Steve Thalburg, will instruct participants in creating biochar charcoal using gathered pieces of small-diameter wood. After biochar instruction, Thalburg will lead the group on an hour-long tour to teach best management practices for small acreage woodlands and watersheds, a press release by Washington State University (WSU) Extension stated.

The workshop is part of the WSU Clark County Extension Small Acreage Program with support from Clark County Public Works Clean Water, the press release stated.



Online pre-registration is available online at  $10 per household at biochar2024.brownpapertickets.com. Drop-in participants may attend for $15 per household, by cash or check, at the workshop.
