Battle Ground councilor resigns, city requests applications for replacements

The City of Battle Ground is seeking an interim replacement for outgoing councilor Shauna Walters ahead of this year’s election for that seat.

In a news release, the city announced it is accepting applications to fill Walters’ position 3 seat. Elected in 2019, Walters served in the seat until May 31. She resigned since she planned to move outside of city limits, the release stated.

The current position expires at the end of this year. Filing week for the position for this year’s election concluded on May 19. There are three candidates who have filed for the seat: Victoria Ferrer, Daniel Dingman and Craig Wigginton, according to the Clark County elections website.

To qualify for appointment to the position, applicants must be registered voters in Clark County and must have resided in the City of Battle Ground for at least one year preceding the appointment to the council.

Applications must be received by the city no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, June 12.
