Battle Ground General Federation of Women’s Clubs offers scholarship

The Battle Ground General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is offering a $3,000 scholarship to one graduating woman from Battle Ground area high schools.

To receive a scholarship application, contact GFWC co-scholarship chairman Leese Pohl at 360-666-7054, or email pohlbarn4.aol.com. Applications must be postmarked by Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, a press release by GFWC stated.

To qualify, applicants must plan to attend an institution of higher learning within Washington. Grade point average, financial need and community service involvement will be considered in the selection process, the press release stated.

The scholarship recipient’s application will also be forwarded to the GFWC Washington State Scholarship Committee for additional judging in the state competition, the release stated.

The GFWC is one of the oldest women’s volunteer organizations in the United States and has more than 60,000 members. The clubs work to support arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles and encourage civic involvement, the GFWC website stated. To learn more, visit gfwc.org.
