BG to host meet-and-greet for city manager finalists

The Battle Ground City Council has selected three candidates to be considered for the city manager position after reviewing 19 candidates. The chosen city manager will replace Erin Erdman, who resigned from her position in April to take the city manager position in Kennewick.

The City of Battle Ground will host a meet-and-greet for the three candidates from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at Battle Ground City Hall, 109 SW First St., second floor. Attendees may speak with the three candidates and may comment publicly on their impressions.

Robert Maul

Maul serves as both interim community development director and interim planning manager for the City of Camas. Maul holds a bachelor of science degree in geography from the University of Northern Colorado and has over 23 years of public service experience.



Kris Swanson

Swanson worked as Longview’s city manager from March 2023 to April 2024 and currently serves as interim city manager for the City of Battle Ground. Swanson has worked for 33 years in public service and holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joseph Valtierra

Valtierra is currently the senior manager for the Multnomah County Human Services: Aging, Disabilities and Veterans Services Division in Portland. Valtierra has worked over 20 years in public service and holds a master of business administration in healthcare management from Western Governors University based out of Seattle.
