C-Tran offers free service and extended hours on New Year’s Eve

C-Tran will offer free service across its entire system on New Year’s Eve to help people get home safely.

The free rides will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 and will continue through the end of service, stated a news release. 

Several routes will also be extended into the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 1. They include routes 37, 60, 65, 71, 80 and The Vine will run until about 2 a.m. or later.

“If you’re heading out to ring in 2023, be safe, plan ahead and let C-Tran do the driving instead of getting behind the wheel,” stated the release. “Transit is a safe, smart alternative to driving. Consider making C-Tran a part of your New Year’s Eve celebration even if you’re not staying out until midnight.”



Those who celebrate in Portland can utilize free service after 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve through TriMet and the Portland Streetcar. Most MAX lines will operate until approximately 2 a.m.

C-TRAN partnered with sponsors People’s Community Federal Credit Union, the Port of Vancouver and ilani to offer the free service this year.

For routes without extended hours, C-Tran will operate on regular Saturday schedules on Dec. 31, stated the release. Extended route schedules vary. For questions or trip planning assistance, call C-Tran at 360-695-0123.
