Camp Hope of Southwest Washington received the City of Battle Ground’s October BiG Heart Award on Oct. 19 for its work providing local children with opportunities to explore the outdoors, build friendships and gain confidence.

The Christian organization offers overnight camps, facility rentals and community events at its 107-acre property along the East Fork Lewis River. Located at 12800 NE Roper Road in Battle Ground, Camp Hope of Southwest Washington also partners with schools, churches and other organizations.

The city highlighted the organization’s scholarships, mentorship and camp experiences, which help children from all backgrounds discover new possibilities in a welcoming environment, according to a City of Battle Ground social media announcement.

The BiG Heart program recognizes a recipient each month for their contributions to Battle Ground. Honorees are selected for exceptional accomplishments that bring positive recognition to the community or outstanding volunteer service that makes a meaningful local impact. Recipients receive a commemorative stone, lapel pin and certificate at a City Council meeting.
