During its Feb. 26 meeting, the La Center City Council approved the appointment of Margene Rivara as the city’s representative on the Clark County Arts Commission.
Mayor Tom Strobehn recommended Rivara, citing her extensive arts and community service background.
Rivara has a lengthy arts career, including serving as a civic arts commissioner in Pleasanton, California, and helping establish the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation. She has also designed stained-glass works, luxury rugs and children’s fashion, with her designs featured in major publications and purchased by notable figures.
Since moving to La Center in 2023, she has been an active board member of the La Center Arts Council, coordinating local arts events and teaching stained-glass classes to adults and students.
Strobehn expressed confidence that Rivara will represent La Center well and make valuable contributions to the Clark County Arts Commission.
“I feel Margene will represent La Center very well and serve as a valuable member to the arts council,” Strobehn wrote to the Clark County Arts Commission.
