City of Battle Ground seeking public comment on intersection

Posted

The City of Battle Ground is requesting community input on future improvements to the intersection of state Route 503 and Northwest Onsdorff Boulevard.

This project is in the early stages of preliminary engineering. A signal and a roundabout option will be analyzed as the potential intersection improvement alternatives per Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) requirements, according to a press release.

As the city continually improves its overall transportation network and develops it in the long term, staff want to be sure that the intersection improvement project meets the needs of that network and is suited to the community’s needs. The city encourages the community to take part in this project survey, to help develop the project design.

Respondents will be asked to provide information on their travel habits, including the day, time(s) and frequency by which they travel this intersection, as well as modes of transportation they use when doing so, according to the press release. This survey data, along with other data sources, will be used to gauge the use and predict future needs for this project. Additionally, this will help guide the design recommendations to be considered by the City and WSDOT.

The public comment period for this phase of the project is open now through Nov. 30.

Further information about the project as well as a link to the online survey is available at cityofbg.org/503-Onsdorff. To receive and submit a paper copy of the survey, residents can visit the customer service desk in City Hall, 109 SW First St. The customer service desk is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays.
