The Ridgefield City Council is seeking volunteers to serve on the city’s planning and civil service commissions and the Mosquito Control Board.

Commissioners, board members and trustees are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
All applications must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 2.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is composed of seven volunteers who advise the City Council on planning, development and growth issues for the community, according to the news release. Beginning in 2023, the primary focus will be a new 20-year comprehensive plan to be completed in 2025, the capital facilities plans and development code regulations.

Planning Commission members serve four-year terms and must regularly attend the meetings, which take place at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. All members of the commission must live within corporate city limits and be active in the Ridgefield community.

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is a three-member volunteer commission that advises on the manner in which examinations are held, appointments, promotions and other matters connected with personnel administration of the police department.

Civil Service Commission members serve six-year terms and regularly attend meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Qualified candidates must be a citizen of the United States and have lived in the city of Ridgefield for at least one year;

Clark County Mosquito Control District Board of Trustees
The Clark County Mosquito Control District was created in 1982 and provides seasonal mosquito control through the Clark County Health Department, which administers the program. A Board of Trustees oversees the work of the Mosquito Control District and establishes its policy. The board is composed of one member from each city or town in Clark County and three at-large members appointed by the Clark County Council. The board adopts the work plan, prepares and approves district expenditures, and contracts for services.

Clark County Mosquito Control District Board of Trustees members serve two-year terms and regularly attend quarterly meetings at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of February, May, August and November.
All members of the Commission must reside within the corporate limits of the city.
