Clark County suspends jury trials in superior, district courts

Clark County has decided to suspend jury trials in district and superior courts because of the spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19.

All suspended trials will be rescheduled when they can be safely conducted again, stated a news release.

“Holding in-person jury trials brings additional groups of people into the courthouse which can contribute to the spread of the virus,” stated the release. “The additional measure of temporarily halting jury trials is needed to protect the health of jurors, staff and other court users.”

Information on district court and the order suspending jury trials can be viewed on the county’s website at clark.wa.gov/               district-court. Superior court information can be found online at clark.wa.gov/superior-court.

Clark County Public Health reported 3,261 new COVID-19 cases on Jan. 6, which is twice as many reported the prior week.
