Clark County to host November composting workshops

Composter Recycler Clark County will soon host free events to teach residents about the best methods to compost and recycle their materials.

Composting Field Training — CASEE Center: 10- a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the CASEE Center, 11104 NE 149th St., Brush Prairie. Get hands-on training on how to maintain compost piles.

• Green Cleaning Workshop: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Waste Connections of WA, 9411 NE 94th Ave., Vancouver. Learn to make eco-friendly household cleaners. Participants are eligible for a free green cleaning kit.

• Curbside Recycling Done Right & Beyond Curbside Recycling: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Waste Connections of WA, 9411 NE 94th Ave., Vancouver. Learn about proper recycling practices and handling materials not accepted in the blue recycle cart. Participants can win prizes.



• Composting Field Training — Heritage Farm: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at Heritage Farm, 1919 NE 78th St., Vancouver. Get hands-on training on how to maintain compost piles.

• Prevent Food Waste — Scrappy Cooking: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Waste Connections of WA, 9411 NE 94th Ave., Vancouver. Learn how to reduce food waste with leftover-based cooking, including a cooking demonstration by Washington State University Clark County Extension.
