Coffee Caturday the “purrfect” event for local cat enthusiasts

Feline fanatics are in for a treat as Pampurred Pet Care hosts Coffee Caturday, a free event celebrating felines, pet-focused businesses and local vendors.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, in the Moulton Falls Room at the Battle Ground Event Center, formerly known as the community center.

“This is a celebration of cats,” Patt Doyle, owner of Pampurred Pet Care and organizer of the event, said. “There’s going to be a cat rescue there, disaster preparedness folks and local vendors with all kinds of cat-themed products.”

Attendees can expect both education and entertainment. The event kicks off at 10:15 a.m. with prize drawings every 30 minutes. Prizes include surprises from CatLadyBox, a monthly subscription service that delivers cat-themed gifts and goodies. Doyle has collected these boxes for months to offer attendees fun, feline-inspired items and giveaways.

Artist Bobbie Scott will offer custom pet portraits while vendors such as Pine & Maple, Paws Cascadia, Neon Kitten and Cat Cube Creations will showcase pet-related items and decor.

“I wanted to help celebrate cats and also highlight local independent businesses like mine,” Doyle said. “We are a community.”

The event will also feature representatives from the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency, who will provide pet owners with disaster preparedness tips. Doyle has prepared take-home flyers to help cat owners get ready for emergencies.

“Often, when we are thinking about disaster preparedness, our pets are often left out,” Doyle explained.

Coffee lovers will also have something to enjoy. YMF Coffee, a local, family-owned business, will sell fresh-brewed coffee and take pre-orders for whole bean and ground coffee for pickup at the event.

For Doyle, Coffee Caturday is also an opportunity to reintroduce Pampurred Pet Care to the community. Founded in 1998 in Forks, Washington, the business has provided pet-sitting services for over two decades, focusing on cat care since Doyle relocated to Battle Ground in 2015.

Recently retired from her role as a special education assistant, Doyle is now dedicating her time fully to her business. She finds the most joy in earning the trust of shy cats, patiently building a bond until they feel comfortable enough to interact.

“When the shy cat finally comes out, reaches a paw toward me, or even sits in my lap, that’s the most rewarding moment,” she said.

Although Furry Friends Cat Rescue representatives will be present, attendees should not expect to find adoptable cats at the event. Doyle hopes attendees walk away with more knowledge and appreciation for their pets.

“Overall, the idea is for people to leave their own cats at home, come enjoy the event, and bring back something special to spoil their cat with,” Doyle said. “I want them to learn about better food for their pets, if needed, and to have joy in their cats. And if nothing else, I want people to leave with at least an extra bag of pet food on hand in case of emergencies.”

As for the future, Doyle says Coffee Caturday may become an annual event.

“If we have enough time, we’ll do it again,” she said. “But next time, I’m not paying for the whole thing by myself!”
