Christian Service Brigade Reunion: Thursday, Aug. 3, Friday, Aug. 4 and Saturday, Aug. 5. Participants involved in the Unit 6610 Battalion or Stockade divisions of the Christian Service Brigade program at Bethel Lutheran Church in the early to mid-1980s are invited to attend a three-day reunion. Bethel Lutheran Church, 12919 N.E. 159th St. in Brush Prairie, will serve as the base for the Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 excursions, which begin at 9 a.m. A local fishing trip is planned for Aug. 3, and participants will hike nature trails through 81 acres of mature forest and open meadows on Aug. 4. A meal and evening program at the church is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Clark County Historical Museum Speaker: Doors open at  6 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. As part of the 2023 CCHM Speaker Series, historian William Woodward will present “Will the 2020s Roar like the 1920s?” He will chart the familiar developments of a century ago: shattered idealism, social clashes, domestic terrorism, culture wars, disorienting technologies,and fearsome disease. Clark County Historical Museum is located at 1511 Main St. in Vancouver. The CCHM Speaker Series is sponsored by the Humanities Washington and Clark County Historic Preservation Commission. Thanks to support from Humanities Washington this event is free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as seating is limited. Second annual Ridgefield Forest Fair: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, at Abrams Park, 400 Abrams Park Road, Ridgefield. This is a free, family-friendly event for all ages. There will be more than 20 artist’s booths at the event. The fair will kick off at 11 a.m. with a Tiny Parade of Tiny Gardens led by dancers from Northwest Classical Ballet. Live music on the Burris Stage starts at 11:30 a.m. and will feature Aram Arslanian, Barrie Dempsey and The Carlin Band. Ridgefield Main Street will host the beer and wine garden. Wood-fired pizza will be available from Bella Bee Pizza. The event will also include a family craft area, selfie stations and a Tiny Garden Contest.

Family Fun Day in the Garden: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5. Naturescaping will host an event in their garden for families to learn about “Can you eat a leaf?  Build a bird’s nest? Draw a pollinator? And what about bugs? Do we need them?” Naturescaping will partner with the Master Gardener children’s program to set up the activities. Naturescaping is located at 11104 N.E. 149th St. in Brush Prairie. 

La Center High School All School Reunion: 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6. There will be an all school reunion held at the Summit Grove Lodge for La Center High School. YMCA day camps: Through Aug. 11. The Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Clark County Family YMCA to offer summer day camps at the Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Main St. The YMCA day camps, designed for two age groups spanning 4 to 12 years old, provide child-centered activities and opportunities for learning through discovery. Options include dance fitness camp, cooking camps and a variety of STEM camps focused on Lego engineering, Star Wars coding with Legos and stop-motion animation. LADY Mad Hatter’s: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11. The Battle Ground Senior Citizens, Inc. will hold its mad hatter event at Margarita Factory in Battle Ground. Summer playground program: Through Aug. 17. The free eight-week program provided by the Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 12 and brings summer activities to parks in the city each week. Each week will feature a different themed activity and provides children the opportunity to play games and create arts and crafts projects. Session locations and times are from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays at Kiwanis Park at 422 S.W. Second Ave., 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at Cresap Park at 1911 S.E. Battle Ground High School Class of 1953 70th anniversary open house: 1 p.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Kiwanis building in Kiwanis Park, south of Burgerville in Battle Ground. Friends of classmates are welcome to attend. Photos of the group will be taken at 2 p.m. 

Car Show: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. The Slo Poks will be hosting its car show on Main Street in uptown Vancouver. They advise participants to arrive early and enter on the corner of McLoughlin and Main Street. The event is open to all hot rods, customs, bikes, rat rods and collector cars and will cost $15 plus a school supplies donation. ‘Wine, Nine and Dine’: 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 19. The Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland will host its Wine, Nine and Dine event with wine and appetizer reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. shotgun start. Creative Card-making: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Join the Battle Ground Senior Citizens group for a creative card-making class that occurs every other month at the Battle Ground Senior Center located at 116 N.E. Friday night cruise-ins: 4 to 8 p.m. every Friday through Sept. 15. Alderbrook Park welcomes all special interest cars, trucks and bikes at its cruise-in events. Participating vehicles need to pay $10 to enter, and only cash is accepted. Tickets for adult spectators cost $8 per person, while tickets for children ages 4 to 13 cost $5. Children 3 and under can enter for free. Cash or card is accepted for spectator entrance. The events will host food trucks, an espresso cart, cafe snack shacks, a beer garden and other vendors. Bliss Yoga: 9 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesdays and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays at the BG Holistic Hub and Apothecary, 314 N.E. First Ave., suite 101, in Battle Ground; 6 to 7:15 p.m. on Mondays and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Fridays at 7614 N.E. 279th St. in Battle Ground. Classes include gentle poses, meditation and relaxation. Columbia River Square Dancers: Lessons 6 to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Dances at 7 p.m. for plus level and 8 to 9:45 p.m. for mainstream level on the first and third Friday of each month.
