Industry fair: 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. Employers are invited to participate in the Battle Ground Public Schools Industry Fair at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St. Businesses in and around Clark County can reserve a table at the free event that draws hundreds of students, families and community members who are actively seeking career opportunities or wanting to learn more about local employers. Book sale: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. Join the Friends of Woodland Community Library for a book sale. It will be held at a new location at the Lewis River Fellowship Church at 2000 Lewis River Road in Woodland. Children’s books will be 50 cents to $1, mass market books are $1 and hardcover and trade paperback books are $2. There will also be DVDs, audio books and puzzles. Drama performance: At 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 and Friday, Feb. 24, and at 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 and Saturday, Feb. 25. Prairie High School will perform its production of Xanadu from Music Theatre International. Tickets cost $6 for students, $13 for adults and $11 for honored citizens. Garden tool maintenance: 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 18. Join Arthur Fuller, a Cowlitz County Master Gardener, as he presents information on how to clean and sharpen tools before they are stored for the winter or used in the spring. Participants can bring their pruners or loppers for a hands-on sharpening lesson. The class will take place at the CASEE Center in Building B, Room 205, at 11104 NE 149th St., in Brush Prairie. NatureScaping members can attend for free, while non-members pay $15. A yearlong NatureScaping membership is $25 or $15 for seniors. Manufacturing Workforce Summit and grand opening of IT3: From 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The Manufacturing Workforce Summit will be held at the IT3 Tech Center at 5645 S. 11th St., Suite A104, in Ridgefield. From 3:30 to 3:50 p.m., there will be a Cowlitz Tribal blessing and ribbon-cutting event for the grand opening of IT3, a new workforce training center focused on filling advanced manufacturing technology jobs in Washington state. From 4 to 4:15 p.m., the event will welcome IT3, which is then followed by a “state of the workforce” presentation from 4:15 to 4:30 p.m. From 4:35 to 5:15 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on the manufacturing workforce. Career fair: 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 30. Woodland Public Schools and the Port of Woodland will host a CareerReady Woodland career fair. Local employers will be able to speak with students at Woodland High School. Businesses are invited to send representatives at no cost to attend the event. Introduction to fly fishing school: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. Join Clark Skamania Flyfishers for an “introduction to fly fishing school.” It will include instruction on the mechanics of fly casting, hands-on casting lessons, knot tying lessons, entomology, safety and other topics related to becoming a competent fly fisher. The event, which will be held at the Vancouver Firefighters Union Hall at 2807 NW Fruit Valley Road in Vancouver, requires registration.
