Hot Summer Nights: 5:30 p.m. on July 22, July 29, Aug. 12 and Aug. 19 at Horseshoe Lake. Join the Woodland community as they celebrate its yearly Hot Summer Nights and Movies in the Park events, which will include beach volleyball, car shows, and a dinner from the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lighted kayak parade: 9 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22. Join the Woodland community as they decorate their kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes with lights as part of the town’s Hot Summer Nights and Movies in the Park events. Equestrian safety: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. Join the staff at Battle Ground Lake Park as senior park aide Mindy Lahti-Phillip teaches people how to ride horses safely on trails. Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Pageant: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. La Center will hold its annual Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Pageant for girls ages 13 to 18. The event is open to girls from Ridgefield as well. It will be held at La Center Middle School, 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road, La Center. Mushrooms for health and medicine: 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 23. Join Dr. Lorinda Sorensen as she shows off samples of mushrooms and teaches people how they can be used medicinally. Elks bingo: 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. Join the Battle Ground Elks Lodge No. 2589 for a game of bingo. Members and guests are welcome. Our Days: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29 for the parade, and 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 30 for the 5K. Join the La Center community as they celebrate the Our Days Steamboat Festival, which will include a parade on Friday followed by the movie Dumbo at Sternwheeler Park afterwards. Used book sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 and 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, July 31. Join the Friends of the La Center Community Library for its biggest book sale of the year. The event will feature fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books for sale. Hardbacks are $1 and pocketbooks are 50 cents. On Sunday, the prices are $2 for a small bag of books and $5 for a large bag. Bags will be provided at the sale. Proceeds will benefit library programs for all ages. The sale is located at 1411 NE Lockwood Creek Road, La Center. Clark County Fair: Aug. 5 to Aug. 14. Join residents of the area as the Clark County Fair returns. It will include carnival rides, hot dog and hamburger eating competitions, a baby beauty contest, a science show, a reptile exhibit, and a large variety of foods. Ridgefield Forest Fair: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6. Join the Ridgefield Art Association as they host a new festival which includes dancers from Northwest Classical Ballet, a parade, and 30 artisan booths. Bigfoot Mojo Band and Reckless Kompany will provide music. There will be an open mic between sets. The Ridgefield Lions Club will provide food as well. La Center All School Reunion: 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7. Join former La Center High School students at an all school reunion. All classes are invited and welcomed. Pomeroy Farm Days: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first weekend of every month through August. Join the Pomeroy Farm as they host an open farm weekend, which includes I-spy activities for kids, farm animals, artisans and vendors. Parking and admission is free, but a donation is encouraged. Opus School of Music: Through Friday, Aug. 19. The Opus School of Music in Ridgefield will hold its summer session, which will feature pre-K classes, as well as private and group music lessons. Pig Jam: 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. Join the Battle Ground community for a Pig Jam, which will serve a large, roasted barbecue pig while an AC/DC tribute band plays. Food is $24, and includes three different plates, each with a quarter pound of meat and a side. Attendees can listen to the band’s performance for free.
