Car Show: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 29. The second annual car show benefiting Thrive2Survive and Live Love Outreach will take place at 2711 N.E. Andresen Road in Vancouver. Used book sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 30. Join the Friends of the La Center Community Library for its biggest book sale of the year during La Center Our Days. The event will feature fiction, nonfiction and children’s books for sale. Hardbacks are $1, and pocketbooks are 50 cents. On Sunday, the prices are $2 for a small bag of books and $5 for a large bag. Bags will be provided at the sale. ‘Wine, Nine and Dine’: 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 29. The Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland will host its Wine, Nine and Dine event with a wine and appetizer reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. shotgun start. Kona Ice Fundraiser: 5:45 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Kona Ice (shaved ice) will host a fundraiser with 100 percent of sales benefiting the 17-year-old who was involved in the Harvest Days parade accident in Battle Ground. Christian Service Brigade Reunion: Thursday, Aug. 3, Friday, Aug. 4 and Saturday, Aug. 5. Participants involved in the Unit 6610 Battalion or Stockade divisions of the Christian Service Brigade program at Bethel Lutheran Church in the early to mid-1980s are invited to attend a three-day reunion. Bethel Lutheran Church, 12919 N.E. 159th St. in Brush Prairie, will serve as the base for the Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 excursions, which begin at 9 a.m. A local fishing trip is planned for Aug. 3, and participants will hike nature trails through 81 acres of mature forest and open meadows on Aug. 4. A meal and evening program at the church is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Clark County Historical Museum Speaker: Doors open at  6 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. As part of the 2023 CCHM Speaker Series, historian William Woodward will present “Will the 2020s Roar like the 1920s?” He will chart the familiar developments of a century ago: shattered idealism, social clashes, domestic terrorism, culture wars, disorienting technologies,and fearsome disease. Clark County Historical Museum is located at 1511 Main St. in Vancouver. The CCHM Speaker Series is sponsored by the Humanities Washington and Clark County Historic Preservation Commission. YMCA day camps: Through Aug. 11. The Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Clark County Family YMCA to offer summer day camps at the Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Main St. The YMCA day camps, designed for two age groups spanning 4 to 12 years old, provide child-centered activities and opportunities for learning through discovery. Options include dance fitness camp, cooking camps and a variety of STEM camps focused on lego engineering, Star Wars coding with Legos and stop-motion animation. Summer playground program: Through Aug. 17. The free eight-week program provided by the Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 12 and brings summer activities to parks in the city each week. Each week will feature a different themed activity and provides children the opportunity to play games and create arts and crafts projects. Friday night cruise-ins: 4 to 8 p.m. every Friday through Sept. 15. Alderbrook Park welcomes all special interest cars, trucks and bikes at its cruise-in events. Participating vehicles need to pay $10 to enter and only cash is accepted. Tickets for adult spectators cost $8 per person, while tickets for kids ages 4 to 13 cost $5. Children 3 and under can enter for free.  Cash or card is accepted for spectator entrance. The events will host food trucks, an espresso cart, cafe snack shacks, a beer garden and other vendors.
