Used book sale: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. The Friends of the La Center Library are sponsoring a pop-up book sale that will feature fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books for sale. The prices are $1 for hardback and large paperback books, and 50 cents for small paperback books. The proceeds will benefit library programs for all ages.  The sale is at the La Center Community Library located at 1411 NE Lockwood Creek Road in La Center. Book and a movie: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, June 26. Join the Battle Ground Senior Citizens group for a book and a movie as they discuss the book “Snow Falling on Cedars” by David Guterson at the Battle Ground Senior Center at 116 NE Third Ave. in Battle Ground. Vacation Bible School: 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 26 to Thursday, June 29. Join Bethel Lutheran Church for “Stellar VBS: Shine Jesus’ Light.” It will be held at the church, which is located at 12919 NE 159th St. in Brush Prairie. The Vacation Bible School will feature teamwork-building games, songs, Bible learning activities and more. It is open to pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. YMCA day camps: June 26 through Aug. 11. The Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Clark County Family YMCA to offer summer day camps at the Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Main St. The YMCA day camps, designed for two age groups spanning 4 to 12 years old, provide child-centered activities and opportunities for learning through discovery. Options include dance fitness camp, cooking camps and a variety of STEM camps focused on lego engineering, Star Wars coding with legos and stop motion animation. Summer playground program: June 27 through Aug. 17. The free eight-week program provided by the Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 12 and brings summer activities to parks in the city each week. Each week will feature a different themed activity and provides children the opportunity to play games and create arts and crafts projects. Session locations and times are from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays at Kiwanis Park at 422 SW Second Ave., 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at Cresap Park at 1911 SE Second Place, 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays at Whispering Pines Park at 715 NE 27th St., 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Kiwanis Park at 422 SW Second Ave., and from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursdays at Florence Robison Park South at 1900 NW Ninth St. For more information, contact Battle Ground Parks and Recreation by phone at 360-342-5380 or visit cityofbg.org/695/summer-playground-program.

Lewis River Rotary meeting: 5:45-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27. Lewis River Rotary will meet at the Battle Ground Community Center. They will be hosting their first official business networking meeting. Local businesses are encouraged to join them. They will spend time socializing and getting to know one another. The club is interested in becoming the go-to business alliance of Battle Ground. Outdoor Art & Activities Day Camp: 9 a.m to 3:30 p.m, July 11 through 13 for ages 9-17. Camp Hope Summer Day Camps will want those interested to be ready for adventure, creativity and messy fun. Grand opening event in Ridgefield: 12 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12. Arktana Women’s Clothing and Shoe Boutique will host a grand opening event in Ridgefield’s Pioneer Village at 4312 S. Settler Drive, Ste. 100, in Ridgefield. The event will feature refreshments, raffles and gifts with purchases. Owner Ann Matthews hopes to have a wine vendor in attendance. Miss Teen competition: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Program, which has been renamed to the Miss Teen La Center North County Scholarship Program, will hold its competition at La Center Middle School at 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road. The program has expanded its competition to include Woodland, Battle Ground, Yacolt and Amboy. ‘Wine, Nine and Dine’: 5:30 p.m. on July 29. The Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland will host its Wine, Nine and Dine event with wine and appetizer reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. shotgun start. Musical theater day camps: July 31 through Aug. 4. Journey Theater will host “Are You Smarter Than a Theater Kid” day camps in Ridgefield for kids between the ages of 7 and 12. Camps include a Jesus-focused devotion time to encourage campers to grow in faith.
