Harmful algal blooms at Vancouver Lake have subsided, prompting Clark County Public Health to lift its danger advisory after water samples showed toxin levels returned to safe levels on Thursday, Oct. 2.
Warning signs posted at the lake are being removed, but algal blooms may return if weather conditions change, a news release by Clark County stated. Public Health urges people to avoid contact with water that appears discolored or has floating scum.
The advisory was first issued on July 23 after widespread blooms produced elevated cyanotoxin levels. Public Health will continue monitoring the lake and collecting water samples if blooms reappear.
