Everybody’s at Northwood celebrates opening in Battle Ground

Everybody’s Brewing, a craft brewery and pub based in White Salmon, has expanded to Battle Ground with the launch of Everybody’s at Northwood.

The pub will host a grand opening celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1401 SE Rasmussen Blvd.

Everybody’s at Northwood occupies the former Northwood Public House and Brewery, which operated in Battle Ground for the past decade. Last November, Northwood’s founders Eric and Paula Starr retired, passing the business to Doug and Christine Ellenberger. The couple arrives with 17 years of brewing experience, having founded Everybody’s Brewing in White Salmon in 2008.

“Northwood Public House had a great following and love of it, so it just made sense,” Christine Ellenberger said. “Right now [we’re] trying to pay homage to the community and what they really enjoyed for the past 10 years.”

The Ellenbergers met in 2002 while working at Full Sail Brewery in Hood River. With Doug’s formal brewing training and Christine’s restaurant experience, the duo opened Everybody’s Brewing in White Salmon six years later.

“Doug’s dream was always to open his own brewery, his own brewpub,” Christine Ellenberger said. “I helped him make it happen as a team.”

The company started as a 15-barrel brew system and later expanded to 30, doubling the capacity and output. The couple had long considered opening a new pub to meet their production goals but waited for the right opportunity. That moment came when a broker introduced them to Northwood. Though Battle Ground wasn’t initially on their radar, multiple visits convinced them it was the perfect fit.

“Because the previous owners were retiring, we came here to eat and check it out … just to see what the vibe was, and it was great,” Christine said. “It feels really similar to White Salmon, where Battle Ground seems like a wonderful and small community.”

Rather than a full overhaul, the Ellenbergers embraced a blended approach, honoring Northwood’s legacy while integrating Everybody’s signature style. The decision to keep “Northwood” in the name reflects their commitment, Christine said.

“Eric and Paula have built a wonderful place. We wanted to keep a part of that as we grow into our own too,” she said.

The pub has maintained its full staff and now serves 17 of Everybody’s Brewing’s original beers on tap, offering a wide selection for craft beer enthusiasts.

New menu items like the ginger chicken wrap and pork and pepper nachos will make their debut at the Feb. 8 event. Familiar food items, from the Northwood meatloaf to the Crawdaddy Dip, are here to stay.

To introduce Everybody’s at Northwood to the community, the grand opening will feature live music, family-friendly entertainment and craft beer. Two bands will perform, with sets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Live music will remain a staple on Saturday nights.

The event will also include a kids’ coloring contest and hourly raffle giveaways with restaurant merchandise and gift cards. New menu items from the Everybody’s Brewery in White Salmon will also be available.

While the grand opening marks an exciting new chapter, the Ellenbergers have long-term plans for gradual updates, including décor enhancements that showcase their brewing process. By the event, photos of the process at the White Salmon Brewery will be shown.

As they settle into Battle Ground, the Ellenbergers look forward to fostering connections and continuing the inclusive, welcoming spirit for which Everybody’s Brewing is known.

“The best part? The people,” Christine Ellenberger said. “Getting to know the community and our team here — that’s been the best part.”
