In loving memory of Dixie Ann Olson

Posted

Dixie Ann Olson of Yacolt, Washington, passed away Dec. 18, 2023, at age 90, surrounded by her family. Dixie was born March 20, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, to parents Virginia and O’dell (Shorty) Geer. The family moved to Vancouver, Washington, when she was a teenager, where she graduated from Vancouver High School. She married the love of her life, Calvin T. Olson, on Feb. 10, 1955, and raised four children.
Dixie was a fun-loving, caring and welcoming person who truly lived life to its fullest through her simple pleasures, which included trips to the beach cabin, all things Christmas, watching football and NASCAR, going out to eat and splurging for mochas, and spending time with her high school friends, family and especially her grand and great-grandchildren. Dixie had a lifelong passion of crafting and creating jewelry and handmade, one-of-a-kind “Dixie’s dolls” and so much more! Dixie's grand and great-grandchildren alike could always count on crafting projects when they came to visit; painting Christmas ornaments, up-cycling furniture, crafting dolls, sewing or jewelry-making were in common rotation. It was always a surprise and always a good time.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Calvin; their son Mark Olson, grandson Christopher Olson, and siblings Ed and Mary Geer. She is survived by her children Teri Hewett (Bill), Mary Brewer (Tyrone), and Matt Olson; her 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held, Wednesday, March 20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Summit Grove Lodge, 30810 NE Timmen Road, Ridgefield, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Paul Lutheran Church Vancouver in memory of Dixie.
