Sandra Dawn Finkel, 85, passed away peacefully at her home near Battle Ground, Washington, on Jan. 30.

Sandra was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Mansfield, England. Because she had red hair while all the others had dark hair, she believed she was a Jewish girl being hidden from the Nazis by a kind English couple. She immigrated to America in 1960 and settled in Southern California, where she became an American citizen on March 11, 1966.

Sandra held several jobs over the years, but the one she enjoyed most was working as a secretary at Rockwell International on the Apollo program.

She married Gerald Petrone in 1962 and had two children, Dino and Dina. The couple divorced in 1980. She later married John Bass in 1983 and gained two additional sons, Paul and Joel Bass. They divorced in 1998.

In 2006, she moved to southwest Washington state and married Barry Finkel in 2008. Prior to her third marriage, she converted to Judaism, and the couple married at Congregation Neveh Shalom.

Together, the couple had a total of 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Congregation Kol Ami, 7800 NE 119th St., Vancouver, Washington, on Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m.
