It started off close in the battle of the white jerseys, but ultimately the hot bats of the La Center Wildcats were enough to 10-run rule the Woodland Beavers in great weather on Saturday, April 5.
The Woodland Beavers struck first in the top of the first, but that was all they could muster in the run column before La Center piled it on inning after inning. The Wildcats recorded 10 hits while the Beavers had just two in La Center’s 12-2 victory.
La Center’s Justin Fuller proved why he is one of the best players in Clark County after he went three for four at the plate, including a triple, and made a great defensive play.
Wildcats head coach Hunter Weiss said Fuller is a true five-tool player.
“He’s a five-tool player. He can hit for power. He can hit for average. He can run really well. He’s got a great arm, and he can field the ball better than anybody,” Weiss said. “I’ve never seen him make a bad read in center field. So, I get excited penciling his name in the lineup every day because I’m like something crazy is going to happen, and when you saw it today, he gunned the guy out from center field to third base. But, that’s just another day in the life of Justin Fuller.”
Fuller also racked up four RBIs and scored two more himself.
Up next for the Wildcats, they face off against the Stevenson Bulldogs in a two-game series starting on Tuesday, April 8, at home, but results were unavailable as of press time. They are also slated to travel to Stevenson High School on Thursday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m.
For the Woodland Beavers, they will play a two-game series with the Hockinson Hawks starting on the road on Wednesday, April 9, at 4:30 p.m., and at home on Friday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m.
