La Center, Yacolt earn Risk Management Awards for community safety improvements

The cities of La Center and Yacolt recently received the Association of Washington Cities Risk Management Award during the Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) annual meeting. The award celebrates the cities’ dedication to proactive risk management, according to news releases from the Association of Washington Cities.

RMSA members share the costs of insurance coverage as part of a pool of 108 local governments. The City of La Center helped lower group insurance costs and attract more favorable insurance partners by utilizing risk management practices, a news release stated.

“Utilizing excellent risk management practices is especially important in today’s landscape of skyrocketing insurance premiums. Actively managing liability risks helps keep municipal operations running effectively, reduces overall costs and promotes stronger, more resilient communities,” it stated.

Another news release stated the Town of Yacolt earned its Risk Management Award for its dedication to safety, lowering the insurance costs of residents.
