Editor,
Voters have been clear in Battle Ground that they do not want to build new school buildings. Given the cost of construction, I understand.
The problem of old buildings in need of repair remains, but what do we do? Battle Ground Public Schools is asking the community to vote yes on a capital levy. The money this levy generates is to be used specifically for building repairs and maintenance. Maintaining a public
asset is critical to being responsible with public money. Additionally, this levy will support the necessary upgrades to our CTE programs, which will allow our students to stand out in a competitive job market. Here’s the best part. This replaces a bond that expired in December.
This is not an additional tax. Public schools are a valuable public asset. Let’s maintain that asset. Vote yes!
