After reading a couple of letters to the editor, I have my own thoughts about the legality of fireworks in Battle Ground.
First, if you don’t want to hear or see fireworks, move out.
This town started as a farm town and has since turned into a growing city. When you move into an ex-farm town, you should fully expect loud noises. Whether that be from guns, fireworks or your neighbors having a rager party, loud noises are going to happen.
If you don’t like our fireworks, move to Vancouver.
Secondly, complaining about debris in your yard is pathetic. We are out here to celebrate our country’s freedom, and you’re too busy complaining about picking up a few pieces of cardboard here and there to realize that people fought for our country to have these freedoms like setting off fireworks.
Lastly, fireworks are a great source of income for churches throughout Battle Ground. You may be saying “there are plenty of other sources of income.” You mean like that bake sale or car wash you just drove past on the street and ignored because you’re in a rush?
Fireworks help churches stay running, and religion is a big thing in Battle Ground.
