Letter to the editor: Letter to the Republicans of southwest Washington

Posted

My fellow Republicans,

You and I have heard it been said many times: “Your vote matters!”

And, yet, we see the statewide issues we are facing here, and we ask ourselves in doubt: “Does my vote really make a difference? Is it even worth it?”

Well, judging by the many local races that have taken place in which a candidate either won or lost by only say 100 votes, I would conclude “yes,” your vote definitely counts! And your involvement will determine the outcome of this election.

One side in this election is saying we want results from our elected leaders — we want what the other states have: low taxes, low gas prices and limited government. The other side is saying we only want peace and equality — a utopian society where man has no need to worry because the government can take care of man’s flawed ways even better than they could themselves.

The rise of DSA (the Democratic-Socialists of America) is a growing threat to our constitutional republic, making Reagan turn in his grave. While these people profess to be socialists, they still hold to their Democratic title.

But here’s what I’ve learned:

A Socialist utopia is not a free utopia.

A communist society, where the government is given ultimate power — not the people — is not a free society.

A secular culture, where religious practice is shunned, is not a free culture.

We are a free country built on morality and human rights — and these democratic-socialists would dare threaten that.

I know we are in a rough stage right now, but we’ve been given by the Hand of Providence a great opportunity. I believe change starts within the heart of the individual, then the community, etc. There has been a revival of faith and repentance among our neighbors this past year, and our Clark County Republican Party is more unified than ever before.

It’s about time we took this to the next level.

As Reagan said: "You and I have the courage to say to our enemies: there is a price we will not pay, there is a point beyond which they must not advance!"

The enemy likes to make us feel we are the minority, but maybe it's just that not enough of us actually vote.

If you want affordability, public safety and lower taxes, then get up and vote, because if Republicans vote, Republicans will win, and we will big.
