Letter to the Editor: Ridgefield school propositions a way to invest in students

Posted

Editor,

I’m a retired person living on a fixed income. I support both bond propositions, 10 and 11, for Ridgefield schools.

When I was a kid growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, I benefited from the wisdom of the local voters who approved building new schools. I attended a brand-new elementary school and a brand-new middle school.

Mind you, 97% of the people living in my town were of German descent. Most of them had just come through the Great Depression and World War II. They were not known for extravagant spending on anything. But they believed in education and making sure that the kids in our town had a fair crack at a good future.

I am in their debt. I got a good education because of their forward thinking. I now do the same for the kids in Ridgefield.

Please vote yes for Ridgefield schools.
