I attended the La Center School Board meeting addressing the gender policy the Washington state Office of the Superintendent Public Instruction was trying to coerce Washington schools to enforce.
There is a bigger agenda here than simply requiring teachers and staff to address students by their preferred pronouns. Speaker after speaker who supported the OSPI policy said they weren't even from La Center and informed us parents that we do not have the right to object to their agenda.
Separating children from their parents as a policy is never a good idea. You want to encourage stronger relations with parents and their children, not estrange them.
Furthermore, it goes beyond proper pronouns. Allowing males in female showers and lockerrooms and participating in girls sports is a safety issue in all cases.
Transgender individuals state it is a safety issue for them but ignore the safety of those they impose their views on.
