The Mark Morris softball team continued its take-no-prisoners march through the regular season with a 15-0 win over Woodland in just five innings on Wednesday in a 2A Greater St. Helens tilt in Longview.
The Monarchs hammered out 14 hits in the contest, including three home runs. The hosts took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never let up until the mercy rule victory was in the bag.
“This was again a great team win,” MM skipper Chris Mejia said. “Three different girls hit home runs today and our defense was on point when they tried to play small ball.”
Grace Woodbridge, Keira McGinley, and Mikaila Warfield all blasted home runs for the Monarchs. Warfield led Mark Morris with three hits, five RBIs, and two runs scored. Woodbridge added two hits, while McGinley drove in two runs.
Shyanne Sellars tallied three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for the Monarchs, while Makenzie Henthorn tallied two doubles and drove in two runs in the win. When she wasn’t donning the tools of ignorance, Paisley Fraidenburg added a pair of hits and drove in a run out of the leadoff spot for the hosts.
Henthorn took care of the pitching duties for the Monarchs, allowing just two hits while striking out nine batters in the abbreviated complete game.
Madison Walker and Ainsleigh Utter posted the only hits of the day for Woodland.
Addi Christensen took the loss in the circle for the Beavers after allowing eight earned runs over 3 1/3 innings of work. Gracelynn Huffman tallied the final two outs of the contest for Woodland.
