Memorial service to be held for CCFR commissioner

A memorial service will take place for Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue Commissioner James R. “Bob” Johnson on Saturday, July 30. 

Johnson, who was 86 years old, died at his home in Charter Oak with his family by his side on May 31, 2022. 

“Commissioner Johnson led a life of service, beginning with the United States Army, the Seattle Police Department, and retiring from the Washington State Patrol with over 30 years of service,” stated a news release from CCFR. “After his retirement from WSP, Commissioner Johnson became a fire commissioner in 1991 for Clark County Fire District 11, a predecessor department to CCFR.”

Outside of his responsibilities as a fire commissioner, Johnson also served as a juvenile fire setter counselor for the district. 



“During his 30-plus years with the district, Commissioner Johnson was a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, response capability and public service,” stated the release. “Commissioner Johnson’s tireless support for the citizens and firefighters of the district will be missed.”

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on July 30 in the Cowlitz Ballroom at ilani, 1 Cowlitz Way, Ridgefield. 

The Washington State Patrol and Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue will participate in the memorial service.
