The Mount St. Helens Institute and the U.S. Forest Service have announced they will be celebrating National Public Lands Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Mount St. Helens Science and Learning Center at Coldwater.
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteering event for public lands, the news release stated.
Celebratory activities at Mount St. Helens include:
• Fee-free day at all National Volcanic Monument sites, including the Science and Learning Center at Coldwater.
• Stamp-a-thon activities and prizes: Craft a geology bracelet, learn about Bird Beaks, write a Mount St Helens story, create art and more, the release stated.
• Noxious weed rodeo volunteer event. No experience required, and it is a free volunteer activity.
Hot beverages and light snacks are available for volunteers, according to the release.
