A new educational aid fund will provide annual assistance to Amboy high school graduates pursuing education in forestry or careers supporting veterans.

Sponsored through GUMI CAMP USA, the Sutton Forestry/Veterans Scholarship Fund was established June 20 by Amboy native and Nashville recording artist Tim Hadler. Hadler, founder of GUMI CAMP USA, said the fund honors the Sutton family for its contributions to the Amboy community.

The program will support selected Amboy graduates attending Clark College. Students do not need to be veterans to qualify for the assistance, Hadler said.

Hadler and Amboy Middle School Principal Nick Krause worked together to establish eligibility requirements for the program. The award will be presented annually during the school’s final assembly, with recipients publicly announced each July at Amboy Territorial Days.
