The Prairie Falcons were unable to capitalize on their 6-seed in the 3A state tournament, which gave them two chances to remain in the hunt for a trophy.
One life was already used after a 59-53 loss on the road to 3-seeded Mt. Spokane High School on Saturday, Feb. 28. The opening round loss landed the Falcons with a loser-out matchup against 11-seeded Edmonds-Woodway High School in the Tacoma Dome at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
Edmonds-Woodway, last year’s 3A state runner-up, capitalized on the early morning matchup to end Prairie’s season as the contested three-point shot attempt by Malachi Patton to tie the game did not fall, resulting in a season-ending 49-46 loss. During the game, Prairie senior Carson Morningstar crossed the 1,600 career point mark.
