Those who received a letter dated Aug. 4 from the Washington State Department of Licensing can disregard the message, says Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey, because it incorrectly notified vehicle owners their personalized plates would be canceled.

Thousands of Washington residents received letters stating personalized plates were being transferred to another vehicle, according to a news release.

“We recognize the distress this is causing vehicle owners. (The) Department of Licensing is working to understand how the error occurred,” Kimsey stated.
