Ridgefield Library hosts ‘Pioneering Women of Ridgefield’ presentation

The Ridgefield Heritage Society is celebrating Women’s History Month by hosting a presentation, “Pioneering Women of Ridgefield,” at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, at Ridgefield Community Library, 210 N. Main Ave. 

Members have researched, written and created displays for the prominent women who helped shape the city.

Displays include details of local historical women, including:

• Allene Wodaege, co-founder of Ridgefield Cispus Outdoor School, recipient of the 1986 Washington State Environmental Excellence award and the first woman to join the Ridgefield Lions Club.



• Dorothea Katterman, Ridgefield City Advisory Board and City Council member, Garden Club president and one of the leaders for Women’s Society of Christian Services.

• Gladys Doriot, first female mayor of Ridgefield, member of the CTRAN Board of Directors, founding officer of PWT Federal Credit Union and bus driver.
