Ridgefield School District school board member Emily Enquist, director of District 1 and currently the longest-tenured member of Ridgefield School District’s Board of Directors, submitted her resignation at the board’s regular meeting, Sept. 10. Her final meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 8.
In a news release, Enquist said she is “grateful and honored” to have served the Ridgefield School District.
“This was not an easy decision to make — it was a family decision. While there is no perfect time to step away, this is the right time for me and my family,” she said in the release. “Being able to serve my community in this role has meant so much to me. I am so grateful for all of the relationships, and I will continue to support Ridgefield schools in any possible way that I can because I love this community.”
The district is now seeking applications from those interested in being appointed to serve the remainder of Enquist’s elected term. The District 1 position will also be up for election in November 2025.
To be eligible for appointment to the Ridgefield School District Board of Directors, a candidate must:
• Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the state of Washington

“It has been an honor to serve with Emily,” board President Brett Jones said. “Over the years, I have leaned on Emily and her experience to help guide us through the path of learning this job. She has served the community and the Ridgefield School District well, and she will be missed!”
A brief reception in Enquist’s honor will take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 in the Columbia Assembly Room at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center immediately before the Board of Directors meeting.
